Happiness Remembered

I remember the day that happiness woke up; there was a tingling all over, like a glass of lemonade, a bubbling excitement of the things that we were doing and an understanding that life was fun to live. Happiness woke up after a long week of work and challenges, where we had mistakenly become embroiled in goals that were spinning around us like a whirlwind, which faded and dispersed as the calmness of its observing eye spread to the surroundings. Sharing a glance and a smile with everyone we met, relaxed in our centres, melting like time, as tomorrow vanished, chasing yesterday beyond the horizon, all we were left with was now, a moment to enjoy, clear in our minds, warm in our hearts and facing life shoulder to shoulder.

I remember the day that happiness woke up; it was now, and when I stop to remember, the stillness envelops, the outside joins the inside and in the quiet I can feel my own breath and sometimes even my heartbeat, relaxed and light, clear in our minds and warm in our hearts, now letting go of that anticipation because it has happened, the sun rose, the clouds dispersed and today happiness woke up.
